Baby Boomers | Meaning and Definition

What is Baby Boomers?

The post-World War II generation, who are known as boomers, is a group of people born between 1946 and 1964. They are sometimes referred to as “boomers” because of the exceptional postwar increase in birth rates known as the “baby boom.” While they continue to trail behind younger generations in terms of technological use, the majority of boomers, about 85%, have access to the internet, and their usage of various social media platforms has climbed by double digits in the previous decade. They are silent generation, politically conservative and have become increasingly conservative over time.

They are determined by the post-war baby boom, which occurred between 1946 and 1964. This means that by 2022, baby boomers will be between the ages of 58 and 76. While other generational cohorts’ birth spans are estimated and might vary from source to source.

People of all ages anticipate having to retire later than prior generations, but this anticipation is hitting baby boomers at a vital juncture in their careers––when they would otherwise be retiring. In other words, while developing workplace regulations and making personnel choices, businesses must keep baby boomers in mind. Workers who are older will have different priorities than those who are younger.
